Marche d’Aligre
Though Paris is filled with many excellent open-air markets, for shoppers on a budget, this is by far one of the most affordable. It features typical market fare like furniture, antiques, and clothing as well as special craftsman shops and stalls that have been in the area for centuries. Due to the high number of North Africans who have immigrated to this area of Paris, it also an exotic African influence, especially in some of the nearby restaurants and cafes.

My Typical Market Day in Paris
By Riana LagardeWaiting in lines drive me crazy; it must be that hyperactive kid that was denied Ritalin trapped inside of me. Or, could be the bad posture from dating men shorter than me for most of my life. Thankfully that is over; my French husband is exactly 3 mm taller than I am! One of the things that I love, besides him and his height, is outdoor farmers markets. I just really wish that I had paid more attention years and years ago in Madame Ebinger’s 10th grade French class so that I could have the upper hand in market banter!
