L'As du Fallafel

Just ask any random individual walking through the 3rd or 4th quartiers where the best place to grab a delicious falafel sandwich is, and they will tell you L’As du Fallafel, a haven for Middle Eastern food situated in the heart of Le Marais’s Jewish community. People from all over the world—Easterners and Westerners alike, the famous (Kristen Dunst, Lenny Kravitz)—have hailed their sandwiches.

The hot pita is full of flavorful falafels, red cabbage, salted cucumber, creamy sesame tahini sauce, and fried eggplant. If asked whether or not you’d like the sandwich joint’s "sauce piquant", say yes enthusiastically! Contrary to its name, the sauce is not actually spicy, rather mostly a zesty tomato sauce that will only enhance the delectable flavor of your sandwich.

For meat lovers, L'As du Falafel has perfected a shawerma sandwich composed of both lamb and turkey, which contains all the other necessary ingredients of the falafel sandwich (minus the falafels, obviously). Messy sandwiches have never been so much fun!

BonjourParis recommends that you go during a weekday afternoon, as lines tend to be shorter then. However, this place is worth a stop even if a weekend is your only option! The restaurant employees are real pros, and lines tend to move pretty quickly. Of course, L'As du Falafel is closed on Saturday, as most of Le Marais’s Jewish inhabitants observe the Jewish Sabbath day, Shabbat.
