Forget my question ..... the callers to cell numbers in France pay the premium .. contrasted to the US!! 06 cosrs more. Think Karen, think!!
Stacy: The same system has taken place in the US although not all people are believers. The FCC has instituted a number to call that will ban telemarketers from calling your cell phone. In the US, people are charged for incoming calls as well as outgoing ones. I've never quite understood why the US and the EU operate under different systems.
Any ideas??

Cell phone users: There are a couple of phone scams going around. One of them rings your phone and hangs up immediately, so your phone shows a missed call. If you call it back to see who it was, you'll reach a surtaxed number.

The other one sends you an SMS telling you to call a certain number. I got this one yesterday:
"Salut c moi? J'attends toujours ton appel, à croire que je t'ai laissé mon numero pour rien, rappelle moi au 08########"
Again if you reply, you'll be charged at a surtaxed rate.

The French government now has a number to report these SMS. Forward the message to 33700. They will reply asking you to send the number from which the spam SMS was sent; after you do, they'll confirm receipt and thank you. They will then report these numbers to the phone service providers to take appropriate action.
