Place des Vosges

By Clay McLachlan

Place des VosgesThe Place des Vosges is one of those MUST VISIT squares in Paris. It is easy to spend lots of time sitting in the park people-watching from one of the many benches and chairs, or even on the grass when there are no "pelouse en repos" signs protecting it for only the most perfectly lovely days of summer. Although I am drawn to the park, I am also drawn to the arches around the square. One of my favorite things about Paris is all of the magical passageways revealing each part of the city layer by layer. In this photo I wanted the viewer to know where we are, the Place des Vosges, but then direct our attention to a different view. I love the layers of the image from the facade of the arch, to the man walking happily by, to the next layer of the arch, and then finally to the street beyond.

    Parisian Lover
Place des Vosges I have only been to Paris once but it was enough to spark an eternal love affair! My husband and went to Paris to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We "found", and spent time in Place des Vosges when we got lost looking for Victor Hugo's home.
