Anna Meakin profile
Anna Meakin's interest in Paris grew through her meeting with co-author Paul Bethel, at Shakespeare & Co five years ago. Through Paul, who owns an apartment in the 18th arrondissement, she became fascinated with the history of the city and began researching and writing the book Paul had wanted to write for years. Many hours have been spent rummaging in antique fairs and the archives of local historians for unique and rare images and documents. For Anna unearthing beautiful images and information long since lost has been one of the most rewarding aspects of writing the book.
Anna has a background in research and writing, and worked in publishing before taking an English Language and Literature degree. Later she spent some years working in the charity sector in public policy, but now writes full time. She is also working on documentary film making projects with translator and contributor Peter Clare, with whom she is also writing the second book in the series, Paris by Plaque - The Left Bank.
Anna is married to Patrick and has a son, Joseph. They live in Surrey with their house rabbit, Mungo.
